Legal firm expands into ground floor shop front at Marshall's Yard

12 June 2023

One of the region’s largest legal firms, Sills and Betteridge LLP, are further expanding their Gainsborough practice based at Marshall’s Yard shopping centre.

The growing law firm have begun their works to fit out a ground floor shop unit increasing their visibility and aiding accessibility to their branch in the town, which opened in 2010.

Chief Executive, Martyn Hall, commented: “Marshall’s Yard was the location of the firm’s first office to open north of Lincoln and marked the start of our expansion campaign across North Lincolnshire and into South Yorkshire. It has become a significant part of our business and this additional space will enable us to broaden our client offering further and help us to attract the best legal talent in the region.”

Taking the former Specsavers unit between Card Factory and Greggs the company says the new premises and shop front to their business will raise their profile in the town and allow extra room to expand their already extensive list of services.

The expert team specialise in a full range of legal services from family and residential property to corporate and commercial work. The expansion downstairs to the ground floor will be completed by mid-July and is likely to generate more jobs.

Partner and Branch Manager, Samantha Barrett, added: “The new premises will allow for ground floor workspace and meeting rooms, with a new purpose-built staircase up to our existing offices. The new easier access and scope for future growth have been met with real enthusiasm by clients and colleagues alike and we are looking forward to moving in.”

As well as creating space for more services to be offered, the team expect demand for services to grow from their increased visibility at the busy shopping centre. Customers are also now able to access the team and services without having to use stairs or the lift to the first floor of the building.

Specsavers vacated the unit earlier this year to expand into a larger shop unit next door to No 17 Coffee and Cocktails to keep up with growing demand for their services.

The Gainsborough office employs 15 professionals and has further offices in Lincoln, Boston, Sleaford, Nottingham, Doncaster and up and down the East Coast.

Centre Manager, Jodie Pacey, said: “We’re delighted to see Sills & Betteridge start their works to their new premises. This is a great example of how a business can flourish at Marshall’s Yard.

“There are still a limited number of small office units available in the centre, ideal for a start-up company or a small to medium organisation. These are all fitted out to an excellent standard with flexible rents.”
