PureGym opens its doors in Hyde following special launch event

PureGym has officially opened its new state‑of‑the‑art facility in Hyde, Greater Manchester, following a special launch event held on Friday 5th June.

The opening marks a major milestone in the transformation of the former Audi dealership site at the junction of Stockport Road and Dowson Road.

The new gym - now open and welcoming members - forms part of a wider £4m redevelopment delivered by Dransfield Properties, working with a team of local contractors to bring the 0.42‑hectare disused site back into active use.

PureGym occupies approximately 746 sq. m (8,025 sq. ft) across two levels, including a mezzanine designed to maximise training space.

The wider redevelopment includes 72 parking spaces, EV charging bays, as well as place for a car wash and parcel lockers.

The project is creating up to 35 permanent jobs across the gym and the neighbouring Sainsbury’s Local convenience store.

PureGym’s opening follows extensive refurbishment of the existing building, repurposing the former dealership rather than demolishing it, a sustainable approach that has delivered modern retail and leisure space while supporting local contractors throughout the construction phase.

The second unit within the development, a new Sainsbury’s Local, is progressing well and the store will open later in the summer.
