Unique Penistone venue expands to offer customers even more

A unique community venue that offers refills, delicious deli food, coffee and gifts has expanded to offer customers even more.

All Is Good Yorkshire Ltd has grown in popularity and size in the three years it has been open in Penistone.

Shortly after launching as a coffee shop and delicatessen in 2021, the venue grew to open an innovative refill hub.

The refilling station works by offering customers the chance to buy glass bottles which can then be used to refill a wide range of items including shampoo and body wash, cleaning products and food such as nuts, seeds and spices.

And there are exciting times ahead for the business as the venue has just renewed a lease for its current unit and has also expanded into a neighbouring building so it can host community events and provide a space for talented makers to sell their gifts.

All Is Good Yorkshire Ltd puts a huge focus on sustainability and reducing waste, and that ethos has been bought into by the local community.

Karen Close, who runs the venue with her business partner Leanne Gill, said: “We are a very unique business in that we aim for zero waste.

“So we don’t have a set menu and just write what is available each day on the specials board with a focus on things like coffee, cakes, sandwiches and small plates. We also host wine tasting nights that are very popular.

“But the coffee shop is only one aspect of what we do.

“The refill part of the business is a major focus for us and has been really successful. It means if you are making a special dish, you can measure out the exact amount of spice you need and just pay for that, rather than buying a full bottle, having it sit on a shelf for years, and then be thrown out.”

In addition, the team has recently opened the adjoining unit as an events space and place for local makers to sell their products.

There are more than 50 local art and craft makers that form the ‘Creator Collective’ that use the space. The venue is also available to book out for special functions such as baby showers.

Karen said: “We love being based in Penistone, it is a brilliant community, full of talented people.”
