Work is progressing well on an ambitious residential and retail development called New Market Place, which will transform East Ham town centre in the London borough of Newham.
Dransfield Properties formed East Ham Regeneration Ltd, a joint venture with the Market Hall owners Land Management, and the company is working with Barratt London on the 1.9-acre site which was previously occupied by the East Ham Market Hall.
Work started on site in May 2019 and the new development will deliver 277 new one, two and three bedroomed homes, as well as 21,500 sq. ft. of new and refurbished retail space, The development is also creating new public spaces, as well as landscaped courtyards and private roof gardens for residents.
The first residential units at the New Market Place development are expected to be completed and ready for occupation early in 2021 and this first phase is targeted to be released for sale next month. The site is just seven minutes from East Ham Underground station.
Once the residential development has been completed work will then start on the new, ground floor retail mall.
Managing Director of Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield, said: “The East Ham Market Hall development is really progressing well now and its great to see this transformational project starting to take shape.
“We are looking forward to delivering our plans for a new retail development as part of the wider town centre project.”
Barratt London and East Ham Regeneration have worked together with Newham Council, the GLA and residents throughout the design process. The scheme’s anticipated completion is late 2021.
