The Sewing Machine Service Centre on Hessle Road in Hull has opened for business in fully refurbished premises after being relocated to make way for the £4 million extension of St Andrew’s Retail Park.

The premises at 381 Hessle Road have been fully refurbished by Dransfield Properties – the developers behind phase one of St Andrew’s Retail Park and the new extension.  Sewing Machine Service Centre Proprietor Mr Peter Stocks said: “The premises have been refurbished to a high standard and I’m really pleased with them.  I’m looking forward to welcoming customers old and new to our new premises.

The extension will deliver a 24,000 sq ft Wilkinson store, two additional 1915 sq ft units, a 250 sq ft kiosk and create up to 60 new jobs.

St Andrew’s Retail Park is currently home to Peacocks, Brantano, Greggs, Poundstretcher, Home Bargains, Select, Grattan and Jack Fulton.  Completed in 2001, it transformed a decaying row of properties into a thriving retail centre, created 200 jobs and won the RICS pro Yorkshire Award for Regeneration in 2002.

Joseph Moran, Assistant Surveyor at Dransfield Properties, said: “We are delighted that Mr Stocks is so pleased with his new premises and wish him every success for the future.  Now that the demolition is fully underway, the extension of the retail park has reached a key milestone, and t
