Barco Lounge now open at Market Cross in Selby
7 November 2022
A new trendy bar and restaurant, Barco Lounge, is now open at Market Cross in Selby.
The former bank in Market Cross has been transformed into a retro-inspired retreat, with a nod to a glamorous bygone era. Heavily patterned wallpapers, tiling and stripped wooden floors feature alongside oversized vintage sofas, upholstered lounge chairs, eclectic artwork and statement wall and pendant lighting, creating a variety of cosy and elegant drinking and dining areas to choose from. A back bar mural has been commissioned depicting boat building. Barco is Spanish for boat, Selby once being a centre for boat building on the Rover Ouse.
A real home-from-home, Barco Lounge caters for all tastes throughout the day with a varied and innovative all-day menu. Whether it’s a coffee with friends, a long lazy brunch with family or a relaxed dinner and drinks, Barco Lounge is the perfect place to relax and unwind in good company.
The all-day menu features everything from tapas and salads to burgers and buttermilk fried chicken, with vegans and those favouring a gluten-free diet well catered for with their very own menus.
Particular attention has been paid to families with a selection of games, books, colouring pencils and pads on offer. A full menu, highchairs and baby-changing facilities are also available for Little Loungers.
Barco Lounge has a community focus and the team is looking forward to engaging with locals through events, charity support and organisations.
Gemma Irwin, Community Manager at Loungers, says: “We are delighted to be bringing Loungers to Selby. Our Lounges strive to put community at the heart of hospitality and our teams always go the extra mile to make a difference. They are actively encouraged to connect with their communities by working with local groups, charities, organisations and businesses that are at the heart of the fabric of local life. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Selby residents to Barco Lounge.”
Starting as they mean to go on, Barco Lounge will begin its community efforts by partnering with local charity Selby Hands of Hope. Barco Lounge will donate 50p from every burger and 20p from every coffee sold in its first month of trading to the charity.
James Shepherd Estates Director for Dransfield Properties, who own and manage Market Cross, said: “We are delighted to welcome Barco Lounge to our centre. The interior looks fantastic and we’re confident Selby diners are going to love the food that’s on offer.
“We wish the team every success.”
Barco Lounge is the 210th opening for Loungers and will create 24 jobs in Selby, with a range of front- and back-of-house roles currently available.
