Mayor visits East Ham’s Market Place as part of Small Business Saturday

The Mayor of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz OBE visited East Ham’s newest retail destination – the Market Place – to meet some of the brand-new businesses which have recently opened at the centre.
The visit was part of the Mayor’s Small Business Saturday initiative aimed at championing small, local businesses across the Newham area – including the many new enterprises which are trading at the Market Place.
The Mayor was joined by Deputy Cabinet member Cllr Caroline Adaja as well as Aaron Uthman, Deputy Chair of Newham Chamber of Trade. They met the teams behind the new businesses at the Market Place including Mowchi, Dhe Chayakkada, and Blue Jewellers as well as the recently opened soft play concept - Hiland Play.
The centre was completed last year and is now fully let – all businesses are expected to be open and trading by spring 2025.
Centre Manager at the Market Place, Aisha Small, said: “We were really pleased to have the opportunity to show the Mayor and colleagues the progress made at the Market Place and showcase the many great businesses that are now open and coming soon at the centre
“2025 is going to be such a great year for the centre – we have more businesses such as Afrikanas, Taco Smash, and Chikaros, heading to imminent fit- out and we are looking forward to having our full line up open and trading next year.”
The Market Place development has already delivered 277 new homes from Barratt Homes. Land Management and the award-winning Yorkshire based property team from Dransfield Properties have delivered the retail development.
