Birkenhead’s new gym set to open this Easter weekend

3 April 2023

My Gym is set to open this Saturday at Birkenhead’s newest retail centre on Woodchurch Road.

Located next door to the newly opened tanning salon, Indigo Sun, the gym will be open to the public for a special preview event this Saturday and Easter Sunday from 9am – 5pm.

Geoff Tait, Business Partner for My Gym, said: “Our team of fitness experts are looking forward to welcoming members through the door this weekend and showing them the newest equipment available on the market and our extensive choice of classes.

“As well as introducing a great joining offer, we’re also giving the chance for one lucky individual to win a year’s membership. Members are asked to bring an Easter egg down over the weekend for their name to be put into the draw for a chance to win. All Easter eggs will then be donated to a local children’s hospital.

“Our aim is to become a big part of the local community in which we serve, and our opening weekend is the first step towards us introducing ourselves.”

The new gym will house cardio and resistance areas, a functional training area with training aids, a large free weights section and spacious fitness studio with a timetable of free group classes including dance fit, spin, boxercise, yoga and HIIT.

New members will have the chance to meet the team and sign up for their membership enjoying an exclusive pre-opening offer of just £20 per month with no joining fee.

My Gym members are able to take on a monthly rolling membership without committing to a contract, providing flexibility and to suit all member’s needs.

Work began last October to convert Birkenhead’s former Looker’s car dealership into a small district centre of shops anchored by a Tesco convenience store which opened in February.

A hand car wash will also open this week and completing the scheme later this month will be Hi-Q tyre and exhaust centre, creating 35 jobs in total for the area.

The development benefits from 47 car parking spaces, which also includes eight electric car charging points.

Managing Director for Dransfield Properties, James Shepherd, said: “We wish My Gym all the very best for their opening weekend and hope the local community are impressed with the new facility which is conveniently located next door to the tanning salon and benefits from free parking outside.

“We’re pleased to have transformed this area of the town and created a good number of local jobs bringing important services to the local community.”
