JJB SIGN UP WITH DRANSFIELD PROPERTIES FOR TWO NEW FITNESS CLUBS!

15 November 2004

JJB Sports have signed up to open two brand new Fitness Clubs  on retail and leisure schemes being delivered by the Yorkshire based developer Dransfield Properties Ltd.

The two purpose built clubs will house JJB’s new Sports and Fitness format with a retail store at first floor level offering the full JJB range.

Both will be 22,500 sq ft in size and will house a twenty metre swimming pool.

The first new club will be housed at phase two of Dransfield’s Three Lakes Retail Park on Bawtry Road in Selby. Phase one opened in March this year with a Homebase DIY, Choices Video, McDonalds, Aldi, Au Naturale, Pets at Home and Brantano.

Phase two of the Three Lakes will also bring forward a further non food retail unit of 12,000 sq ft and work is expected to start in Spring 2005.

The second new JJB outlet being delivered by Dransfield Properties will be at Marshall’s Yard – the company’s flagship £37 million retail, leisure and residential scheme in the Lincolnshire market town of Gainsborough.

Work is expected to start on the Marshalls Yard development in Summer 2004.

The scheme will deliver 93,560 sq ft of new retail space as well as 34,650 of leisure space new town centre offices and 60 City Living Apartments. There are also plans for a new Library and Heritage Museum and a Peace Gardens area.

Dransfield Properties worked with JJB on the company’s award winning Mount Retail and Leisure Park on Holderness Road in  Hull.

The Fitness Club format with first floor retail store is proving popular in this part of East Hull. The development was officially opened by the Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott in December 2003 and awarded the RICS Pro Yorkshire Award for Regeneration in the same year.

Retail Property Director from Dransfield Properties Ltd, Andrew Malley, said: “We are delighted to be working with JJB at Marshalls Yard in Gainsborough and at the Three Lakes Retail Park in Selby.

“The new JJB Fitness Clubs are proving extremely popular in other towns and cities, including at The Mount in Hull, and this new format will be a fantastic addition to both our new developments in Selby and Gainsborough.

“Having the retail store on the first floor above the Fitness Club works extremely well. We are hoping to be on site with both new developments next year.”
