Morpeth’s New Shopping Centre - building on first two months success!

The owners of Sanderson Arcade - Morpeth’s new shopping centre – say they’re delighted with how the development is trading.
In the two months since the arcade was officially opened by Joanna Lumley OBE Sanderson Arcade has seen in excess of 335,000 visitors walk through its impressive bridge street entrance.
Anchor tenants M&S say they’re delighted with how their store is trading, with the food and clothing departments beating all targets. Other traders also say they’re delighted with how the new development has been received – Body Shop is trading as well as the Durham city centre store and Fat Face hit a sales peak to rival the company’s store at Meadowhall in Sheffield.
The new development, brought forward by Dransfield Properties and Ethel Austin Properties, has brought 27 new stores to the town centre in a beautiful Edwardian style gallery which opens out onto a piazza area.
Centre Manager Debbie Anderson said: “It has been a very busy couple of months since the centre opened with Christmas and then the Sales and we are delighted with how Sanderson Arcade has been received.
“We have had some lovely comments from people visiting the centre and it’s great to see Morpeth buzzing after so many months of anticipation.
“We are looking forward now to continuing our work with the local authority and the Chamber of Trade on town centre car parking and also building on the success of these first few months of opening”
The new development has brought 27 new stores to the town centre in a beautiful Edwardian style gallery. As well as ground floor retail space the development also houses first floor high spec office accommodation, the owners Dransfield Properties are now releasing the next phase of offices with an open day planned for February 3rd. The development has offices available from 300 sq ft to 11,000 sq ft with flexible sizes and terms available.
And the company is building on the success of the Arcade with work already underway on the relocation of the Comrades Club - the site of the present club will be used to deliver three further retail units.
This month has also seen énergie the health and fitness club for woman, start fitting out of their new premises at Sanderson Arcade. énergie will be based above New Look with a fantastic range of lessons and state of the art gym equipment. The gym is due to open in early February.
