24 July 2014

The demolition of the former mill building where the new Aldi store is being built in Slaithwaite has now been completed and the steel frame is in place.

Roofing and cladding work will start over the next few weeks and the main contractors PDR Construction have also started on the brick work with the building really starting to take shape. Work has also started on the area around the Masonic Lodge on the development site.

Work got underway on the site of the former Colne Mill off Britannia Road in Slaithwaite in March this year after the plans for the new foodstore were approved in November 2013.

The building has been designed in corten steel and natural stone and the new development will also deliver around 90 new car parking spaces. The construction work is scheduled to be completed ready for the new store to open in time for Christmas 2014.

Head of Communications for Dransfield Properties, Amanda Holmes, said: “‘Work on the new store is progressing well and on schedule and its great to see the steel frame completed and the store really starting to take shape."
