The fashion and home wares retailer Store 21 is due to open its brand new store in Openshaw, east Manchester next week – with a visit from the city’s Lord Mayor.

The company is putting the finishing touches to the new store’s interior ready for the official opening by the Lord Mayor Councillor Naeem ul Hassan on Thursday October 31st at 10am.

The 5,961 sq. ft. unit is at Lime Square in Openshaw where Store 21 will trade alongside Poundland and Brighthouse – other retailers at Lime Square include B&M and Card Factory as well as an 80,000 sq. ft. Morrisons store.

Store 21 has more than 200 stores with 850,000 sq. ft. of sales area across the UK, selling fashion and essential wear at value for money prices. As well as a product range including men, women and children’s wear the company also stocks a wide range of homewares.

Work started on the new unit at Lime Square earlier this month and has just been completed ready for Thursday’s Halloween opening.

The addition of Store 21 is the latest in a number of changes at Lime Square this year – The  GP Practice The Family Surgery opened there in August and Peak Pharmacy is also due to join the line up later this month and a new McDonalds drive-thru opened in the spring this year.

The South Yorkshire based developers of the Openshaw shopping centre, Dransfield Properties, are also planning to be on site later in the year on the next phase of works which will bring The Gym to Lime Square as well as further retail space.

Amy Baldwin, management surveyor at Dransfield Properties said: “It’s been a really busy year for us at Lime Square and there are a lot of changes over the next couple of months.

“We’re delighted that Store 21 is opening here this month, we’ve had a lot of interest in the opening date and are confident the new store will be a really popular addition to the centre and we’re delighted it will  be open for the run up to the busy Christmas shopping period.”

Deputy Head of retail at Store 21, Nick Smith, said: “As a national value for money family retailer, we are very much looking forward to opening and excited to be able to bring our affordable and great quality clothing and home proposition to the residents of Openshaw.

“It should be a great day and we hope for a long and prosperous trading period at Lime Square.”

Lime Square has been delivered by Yorkshire based retail property developers Dransfield Properties working in partnership with Manchester City Council and New East Manchester to bring a new district centre to the area as part of the strategic regeneration of this part of east Manchester.
