Work is progressing well on the new Gateway development in Penistone, South Yorkshire - due to be completed in October this year.

Construction work started on the brand new commercial and office development on St Mary's Street earlier this year which is being supported by ERDF grant funding.

The Gateway is the final phase of the £15 million Penistone Town Centre Regeneration Scheme which also includes the neighbouring TESCO store, town centre car park and brand new markets area - completed in 2010.

The main contractors PDR have now completed the major excavation works on the site and this week are working on the re-inforced concrete for the retaining walls - using a 50 tonne site crane.

The next stage of work will see the steel frame of the building start to appear on site in the next two to three weeks.

Anyone interested in office or commercial unit lettings should contact Dave Hale at Dransfield Properties on 01226 360644.

Head of Communications for Dransfield Properties, Amanda Holmes, said: "Its great to see work progressing so well on our Penistone scheme. This is a key site in the town and once completed will make a really attractive gateway to this part of Penistone."
