All eyes on Specsavers as the optician expands at Fox Valley

Specsavers at Fox Valley has relocated to a larger space within the centre, allowing the team to expand its optical and audiology services for the local community.

The store has moved into the piazza area at Fox Valley and is now located between Ponti’s Italian Kitchen and Brearley House.

The Specsavers team celebrated the store’s reopening last week alongside Richard Crowther, Mayor of Stocksbridge and Barnsley Radio DJ Matt Foister.

The new space features six test rooms - doubling the number available at the previous location, facilitating an increase in the store’s audiology provision to seven days a week and offering customers greater flexibility when booking appointments. The store will also introduce a dedicated in-store earwax removal service.

The expansion has also enabled the store to introduce new optical treatments and services. Alongside its existing NHS Minor Eye Conditions Scheme (MECS) care, the store now offers Zocular Eyelid System Treatment (ZEST), a specialist treatment designed to deep clean the eyelids and help relieve symptoms of chronic dry eye and blepharitis.

The enhanced optical offering is supported by innovative technology, including the Fully Assisted Refraction System (FARS). The system assists with the eye-testing process, helping the optometrist team determine the prescription needed to provide customers with clear vision.

The celebrations continued across the weekend where visitors could see the new store and enjoy free children's entertainment, including an exciting treasure hunt.

The store’s continued growth has led to the appointment of Retail Director Tom Brady in May 2026, alongside Optometrist Director Humma Khalid, who has led the business since it joined Fox Valley January 2020.
