The newest retailer to open at the centre is Superdrug which opened its new Gainsborough store on November 1st in time for the busy Christmas period.

At Lime Square in Openshaw, east Manchester visitor numbers throughout December were 16.24% up compared to the same month last year. The centre has welcomed new retailers this year including Savers and The Works and a brand-new Farm Foods store opens in spring 2020.

Managing Director at Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield, said: “It has been a tough 12 months for the retail industry but we have worked hard at producing that point of difference - with a busy line up of events and attractions, which has resulted in strong visitor numbers during this key time for retail.

“We have also welcomed a good number of new retailers during 2019 with more new openings to come in the first quarter of 2020. Our centres remain 96% let – so we enter the new decade in a strong position.”

The company’s Sandersons Department Store at Fox Valley also enjoyed record sales throughout December with the month showing a 32% increase on the same period in 2018. December 23rd and 24th showed a 35% and 23% increase.
