Growing Gainsborough firm secures Marshall’s Yard contract!

27 March 2007

Gainsborough company Landmark Landscaping has been awarded the contract at Marshall’s Yard to carry out all the horticultural work on the centre, and provide grounds maintenance for the next three years.

The company will be responsible for installing the grassed areas around the public piazza and fountain, planting trees and shrubs throughout the centre and making sure the greenery on the site is in pristine condition all year round.

Landmark Landscaping is a family business run by Andrew Savage and his mother Mrs Susan Savage.  The two have almost 10 years landscaping and grounds maintenance experience between them, and set up on their own just over a year ago.  They now have five employees and business has been so good, that Mrs Savage has left the Gainsborough operation in Andrew’s capable green fingered hands while she is overseas, setting up a French division of the company.

Marshall’s Yard Ltd has a policy of using local companies for services and employing local people wherever possible.  Taxi, floristry and cleaning contracts have been awarded to Gainsborough companies and the two managers appointed to run the centre are also Gainsborough residents!

Andrew Savage, who is originally from Sturton-le-Steeple, just outside of Gainsborough said: ‘’We’re so excited to be involved in the Marshall’s Yard project that we’re on a bit of a high!  As a local resident it’s great to be able to contribute to the most exciting thing that’s happened over recent years and very rewarding to think that our work will be seen by thousands of visitors to the centre.’

Richard Hill, Centre Manager for Marshall’s Yard added: ‘’Now that we are just a few weeks from opening, the site is finally starting to look like a quality shopping destination.  The greenery and landscaping, so important for enhancing the customer experience, will make such a big difference though and I can’t wait to see the effect this has on the development.’’
