Handelsbanken Morpeth expands at Sanderson Arcade with move to prestigious new offices

One of the original office occupiers at Sanderson Arcade is expanding its presence at the award-winning development with a move to larger, newly fitted-out offices within the centre.

Local relationship bank Handelsbanken has taken new office space covering 2,690 sq ft at Owen House within the Arcade, after being based at the centre’s Davison House for the last 16 years, over two units.

The new office is around c800 sq ft larger than the bank’s previous premises, allowing the team to collaborate more effectively in one specially designed and fitted-out location.

The offices were previously occupied by Karbon Homes and Handelsbanken has invested significantly in transforming the space to create an attractive new environment for both staff and customers.

Alongside the move, the bank has also committed to a new ten-year lease at Sanderson Arcade, underlining its long-term commitment to Morpeth town centre and the residents and business community of Northumberland in general.

Handelsbanken was one of the first businesses to take office space at Sanderson Arcade after the retail, leisure and office development opened in November 2009. The office suites were launched shortly afterwards, with Handelsbanken taking two offices within Davison House as part of the bank’s regional expansion.

The move to Owen House will now bring the team together in one office location, with the new office space supporting the bank’s continued growth in Morpeth and across Northumberland.

A core team of eight staff are based at the Morpeth office, with additional Handelsbanken colleagues also regularly using Sanderson Arcade as a base.

The bank’s move comes as plans have just been submitted for the centre’s M&S to expand its foodhall at Sanderson Arcade, further committing to the town centre. The proposals also include part of the current upper floor of M&S being converted into new town centre apartments.

SG Aesthetics, another established Arcade business is relocating to one of the Davison House offices. 

Sanderson Arcade opened in November 2009 and combines retail, leisure and office space in the heart of Morpeth town centre. Alongside a range of national and independent retailers, the development includes high quality office accommodation occupied by a variety of professional businesses.
