Independent jewellers opens at new East Ham shopping destination

9 September 2024

Blue Jewellers have opened their 439 sq ft unit at East Ham’s brand-new shopping centre, The Market Place – just off the busy High Street North.

Husband-and-wife team, Can Uzan and Zeynep Senes, have experience in the industry spanning two decades and have brought their unique range to this part of East London.

The new shop showcases an extensive range of diamonds, gold, silver and gift pieces as well as a customisation service to provide some unique pieces of jewellery. The couple also provide a comprehensive watch and jewellery repair service.

Can said: “We had been looking for a new location for over a year. We found The Market Place and loved the vibrancy of the area and the excitement that surrounds this being a brand-new development.

“We also found there was a niche here for what we offer and we’re already building a great relationship with shoppers and also other local business owners in the industry.

“We’re really thrilled with how the shop has turned out and look forward to more stores opening in the coming months.”

The shop is also in the market for buying scrap gold, silver and fine jewellery. The store joins Starbucks as well as a host of other new businesses which are due to open in the coming weeks and months.

Zeynep said: “We can offer anything from fully custom-made and personalised jewellery pieces to a basic watch strap resize and battery replacement. These repairs and alterations take place on the spot making it a really convenient service for both customers and nearby jewellers.”

The development, which has already delivered 277 new homes, is a joint venture between Barratt Homes, Land Management and the award-winning Yorkshire based development team from Dransfield Properties.

The team have created the stunning range of retail, restaurants and café spaces all within an enclosed mall paying attention to the heritage of the site reflected by the Crittall style windows and other design features throughout.

The site was previously home to the East Ham Market Hall, part of east London’s rich retail history which was operated for 90 years after being set up to provide business and employment opportunities for veterans after the First World War.

Centre Manager, Aisha Small, said: “We are thrilled to welcome our second business to the centre and as a team we are now working hard with our tenants who are currently fitting out to open more business.”

The Market Place units range from 438 sq. ft (40.8sq m) to 2,533 sq. ft (235.34sq m). Enquiries from those interested in viewing a space should be directed to Aisha on 07539 827775 or by emailing aisha.small@landmanagementltd.co.uk.
