Plans Approved for New Retail Development in Birkenhead
5 September 2022
Plans have been approved to convert Birkenhead’s former car dealership, Looker’s based on Woodchurch Road, into a small precinct of shops anchored by a Tesco convenience store.
Wirral Borough Council approved the plans made by Yorkshire based developers, Dransfield Properties Ltd, for the new food store, sun bed salon, gym and car wash on August 23rd.
The development will benefit from 47 car parking spaces, which will also include eight electric car charging points.
It is expected that the scheme will create at least 25 new local jobs and works will start on site in the coming weeks with contractors, PA Contracts, hoping to have the development completed by Easter next year.
Managing Director of Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield DL, said: “We are delighted that our plans for transforming this disused site at a key gateway to the town have been approved by Wirral Borough Council and look forward to working with the local community here in Birkenhead.”
At the time of writing there is one remaining retail unit to let on the scheme measuring 1,400 sq ft. All enquiries should be directed to Estates Director, James Shepherd at james.shepherd@dransfield.co.uk or by phone 01226 360644.
Dransfield Properties is based at Fox Valley in north Sheffield, for more information visit www.dransfield.co.uk
