The iconic Cornish clothing and homewares brand Seasalt has chosen Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade for the company’s most northerly stand-alone shop.

The company was founded in 1981 and now has more than 30 shops across the UK as well as a clutch of national awards including the 2013 Drapers Womenswear Brand of the Year Award.

And although the popular brand is available in stockists across the north of England, the new 1,754 sq. ft. (163 sq. m.) store at Sanderson Arcade with be the most northerly of the stand-alone Seasalt shops.

The Seasalt team are currently transforming the former East unit at the Arcade into the company’s newest shop ready for a mid-February opening.  Around 10 new members of staff will be taken on from the local area at the new Morpeth shop.

Seasalt prides itself on creating beautiful and useful clothing and homewares reflecting the Cornish coastline and landscapes, and focussing on the very best quality and styling.

Seasalt co-founder, Neil Chadwick, said “We’ve all worked incredibly hard to get to where we are and we’re thrilled to be able to expand our business to another site further north for us.”

Sanderson Arcade centre manager Medi Parry said the team at the Morpeth shopping centre is delighted to be announcing Seasalt as the newest retailer to open.

She added: “This is great news for the centre and for Morpeth. Seasalt is a fantastic and really sought after British brand which will be a great addition to our existing retail line up here in Morpeth.

“Our footfall for the last 12 months has increased by 7.7 per cent which is testament to the great offer and range of seasonal events here at the Arcade which we are always working hard to deliver.

“Seasalt will be another great reason to come and visit Morpeth and we’re looking forward to seeing the new store open to our customers next month.”

Dransfield Properties, the company which owns and manages Sanderson Arcade, is also delivering the new £7 million town centre development in Morpeth which will transform the former Morrisons store into three new stores housing Pets at Home,  Next and Home Bargains.
