Next Phase Underway at Alexandra Park in Tunstall
1 February 2011
A multi-million pound milestone has been celebrated in Tunstall, Stoke on Trent, at the site of the second phase of Dransfield Properties' Alexandra Park development.
The final bolt was tightened by Joan Walley MP in a ceremony held to mark the erection of the steelwork on the new Primary Care Centre which is due to open at Alexandra Park later this year.
As well as the new £4.5 million Tunstall Primary Care Centre the Alexandra Park development will also house a new Boots pharmacy - more retail space is also to be created in the next phase.
A successful DW Sports fitness centre and retail store is already housed at Alexandra Park as well as a Carphone Warehouse and town centre car parking. The centre is also home to the iconic Shard sculpture completed by the award winning artist Robert Erskine.
NHS Stoke on Trent Chief Executive Graham Urwin said: “We’re delighted that work is progressing on the centre which is due to open in September 2011. Once it’s finished it will provide a modern health care facility which will fully support the delivery of high quality easily accessible services.”
Retail Property Director at Dransfield Properties, Andrew Malley, said: “We have worked in Tunstall now for nearly ten years, delivering the Matalan store and later the Jasper Square development and the first phase of Alexandra Park.
“We are delighted therefore to be bringing forward this next phase of the Alexandra Park development which will bring a wide range of heath care facilities and services together on one site in the heart of the town.”
The new development is also creating 241 car parking spaces, as well as landscaped grounds and a courtyard garden for patients and visitors with pedestrian and cycle access to the City’s Greenway Network.
