New independent fashion store opens at Five Valleys

1 March 2023

Priyanka, a new independent fashion store, has opened at Five Valleys in Stroud this morning [Wednesday, March 1].

The store, which is based on King Street next door to Curio Lounge, is owned by Ashok Kumar who hails from India and is proud to unveil his technicolour array of handmade clothing.

Following the success of his fashion stores based in India, Ashok ventured into UK retail and has two popular stores already established in nearby Glastonbury.

Following huge amounts of feedback from his loyal customers, Ashok started to explore Stroud as a location for his third shop leading him to choose Five Valleys shopping centre as his base.

Ashok said: “My customers have been encouraging me to explore Stroud as a location for a long time and when I found this shop it seemed to be the perfect location with good passing footfall, good energy and a great space to display my large range of ladies, men’s and children’s wear.”

90% of the clothing found in the store is designed by Ashok and then tailored and handmade by his 300 plus employees based at the heart of India in Rajasthan.

The store sells a range bohemian style items including an affordable range of beautiful dresses, tops and skirts as well as men's shirts, children’s ponchos and a colourful range of harem pants suitable for both men and women.

Jack Simpson, Centre Manager at Five Valleys, said: “We are over the moon that Ashok has chosen Five Valleys as the location for his newest store.

“I am confident his unique offer will be very popular with the local community and we wish him the best of luck with this new venture.”

Priyanka will join a range of independent fashion stores at the centre including Sandersons Boutique, Cordell’s and recently opened store,  Amber, as part of Five Valley’s fashion offering.

Later this month The Tanning Room will also be opening its doors at Five Valleys, which means the centre is almost now fully let with only a few remaining kiosks left at the indoor market.

The Five Valleys centre has undergone a major transformation over the past few years creating new retail and residential space as well as delivering new centralised health care facilities and working towards a new library, which will be completed towards the end of Spring.
